Employee Spotlight: Taylor Young
Since joining The Salvation Army of Greenville in 2017, Taylor Young has been an instrumental part of the Social Services team. In her role as Assistant Director of Social Services, she works in both resident and community client advocacy, as well as program development for the organization.
Taylor finds inspiration in her job every day. She looks to the following William Shakespeare quote as motivation:
"Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt."
She also said, “My clients inspire me the most. My heart breaks when I see the barriers they face, their struggles and mistakes, and the community’s response to their situations. Everyone deserves a fair chance, regardless of where they come from. My sole purpose in my role at The Salvation Army is to help our clients find that fair chance, and learn things I had to learn on my own, like how to live a life beyond homelessness.
She says her favorite part of working with The Salvation Army is seeing residents build community and collaboration with each other, and with neighboring advocacy partners. She said, “The Salvation Army has and will continue to provide both our community and residential clients with a supportive, inspirational and heartfelt social services experience, assisting them with whatever needs they may have. We meet them where they are right now, and help them identify where they’d like to go.”
In her spare time, Taylor enjoys playing with her dogs and video games.
