The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center Welcomes Hoyt Bynum, Jr. as Executive Director
Hoyt Bynum, Jr., has joined the Red Shield Youth Center in Greenville as Executive Director. Hoyt has over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, holding leadership and executive roles in various organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club, Children's Shelter of the Upstate, Habitat for Humanity, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"As the Executive Director of the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center, I aim to use my knowledge, wisdom, and experience to inspire young people," said Bynum. "My desire is to empower them to shine each and every day through the love and hope that comes from knowing Jesus Christ."
Bynum graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Sociology. He attended GWU on a football scholarship. In 2001, he was inducted into the Gardner-Webb University Gallery of Distinguished Graduates.
Professionally, Bynum has devoted 30 years to serving at the Senior Executive level with several non-profit organizations. He currently serves as Deputy Director for the South Carolina Youth Challenge Academy.
Rev. Bynum is the former Pastor and founder of Born Anew Church, Inc. He currently serves as Associate Minister and Music Director for Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
Bynum is a dedicated and devoted family man, married to Shawna Bynum. They have three children: Jessica, Caleb, and Naomi.
The Red Shield Youth Center provides high-quality after-school and summer enrichment programs to children in Greenville. It operates out of The Salvation Army Kroc Center located at 424 Westfield Street.
