The Salvation Army of Greenville, Pickens and Oconee Counties Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation
The Salvation Army of Greenville, Pickens and Oconee Counties has received $4,600 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need. The gift will be distributed with $2,600 assisting Greenville and $2,000 to Oconee to provide meals and food boxes to families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
“We are so grateful to the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for their generous gift to our organization, which will directly benefit our neighbors in need,” said Major Mike Harris, Area Commander of The Salvation Army in Greenville.
Among its many programs available to support the disadvantaged population, The Salvation Army operates an emergency shelter for men, women and children in Greenville for those without a safe place to rest. It also offers food pantries in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee, where those facing food insecurity can receive groceries at no cost.
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $17.8 million in grants.
