Extreme temperatures can be deadly, but sometimes, barriers – many of them financial – prevent individuals from being able to stay cool. These barriers might include being unable to pay for air conditioner (A/C) repair, having a landlord who refuses to fix the A/C, or refusing to turn on the A/C to avoid high electric bills. Ongoing financial hardship caused by the increasing cost of fuel and groceries may magnify these barriers.
The Salvation Army Metro Atlanta Area Command will distribute 1,500 free electric box fans to those in need across the Metro Atlanta Area, thanks to a distribution from a donor-advised fund through the Atlanta Jewish Foundation at the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. The anonymous donor has given The Salvation Army this generous gift for more than 30 years
Fans will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
