Day of Giving 2024
On Wednesday, August 21st, we will hold our 4th annual Day of Giving. Please join The Salvation Army in reaching our event goal of $1,000,000. All donations support families experiencing homelessness in our community.
Day of Giving is an opportunity for The Salvation Army to bring awareness to the hidden crisis of family homelessness and bring Central Texans together to support our programs and wrap around services to help families, women, and children regain self-sufficiency. All donations during Day of Giving provide shelter, basic necessities, and resources to help families in need.
Sunni and her two children are just one of the many households directly impacted by The Salvation Army Austin’s shelter and programs. After losing her job and her main supporter, her mother, Sunni found herself with nowhere else to turn. Being a single mother with a newborn and a child on the spectrum, Sunni knew she needed to find help. She made the decision to call The Rathgeber Center for Families. Sunni soon walked into The Rathgeber Center where her children were immediately introduced to services they had never been able to receive before – services like day care and speech therapy. Not only were her children taken care of, but Sunni was also given a therapist, a case-manager, and resources to guide her through her new career path. After landing a job, Sunni can now focus on future dreams for her family; maintaining stability, having a steady career, and continuing her children’s education. “I love it here,” Sunni says, “They really do help you get back on your feet”.
There are families just like Sunni’s in our community who are desperate to receive services that will change their family’s future.
