The Rathgeber Center for Families Back to School Party
As we near the end of summer, children and their families start to prepare for yet another school year to begin. Our partners at GarzaEMC wanted children living in our shelters to start the year off on the best foot possible, so they threw a Back-to-School Party right on our shelter's lawn. Every family was invited to have one last awesome summer memory together!
Children watched through the windows as staff and volunteers began to set up the ultimate summer party. When the time arrived to start the event, children and their parents burst out the door ready to play. The very first activity table was arts and crafts with coloring pages, markers, and rock painting. And the painting didn't just end there; the next table had three artists waiting for their first face painting costumers. Just around the corner stood a huge bounce house accompanied by a popcorn machine for a post-jump snack. The children loved being able to pick out their own prizes whenever they won in the family obstacle courses across the lawn. A snow cone truck came by to serve the families a sweet treat to cool them down from the Texas heat. Everyone needed the refreshment except Major Reckline who stayed cool in the dunk tank all afternoon as families showed off their perfect aim.
It was an afternoon full of laughter and fun for the families at The Rathgeber Center. We are so thankful for GarzaEMC, who helped bring this event to life so children and their parents could create fun memories before school begins. It was such an awesome summer, and we are all so excited to watch the children shine this upcoming school year!
