Beauty in the Midst of a Natural Disaster
TORNADO OUTBREAK IN ARKANSAS: DEPLOYED 12/14/2021
The “Army behind the Army,” also known as our amazing volunteers, are the reason we are able to do what we do. Meet Rosie and Charlotte, two of our incredibly selfless Emergency Disaster Services volunteers who were deployed just 10 days before Christmas to go help those in Jonesboro, Arkansas, impacted by the tornado outbreak. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Rosie and Charlotte did not hesitate to say “yes” to go serve. Their “yes” meant more people were provided food. Their “yes” meant more people were ministered to. Their “yes” meant more people had shelter. Their “yes” meant more people saw the love of Jesus. Their hearts for serving can be summed up in this quote from Rosie, who willingly missed family Christmas gatherings to go assist in Arkansas: “This is the best Christmas present I could have – to be able to go serve and make a difference in the lives of those hurting.”
The Salvation Army's response to the tornado outbreak: 22,659 Meals Served | 3,374 Drinks Served | 23,927 Snacks Served | 26,340 Hours of Service | Spiritual & Emotional Care to 2,783 People
