Leadership of USA South Changed Hands November 1

Leadership of the USA Southern Territory changed hands November 1, as Commissioners Willis and Barbara Howell began their appointments as territorial commander and territorial president of women's ministries. The Howells succeeded Commissioners Don and Debi Bell, who have retired from active officer service, and now reside in Surprise, (Phoenix) Arizona.

The public installation service for the Howells will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Atlanta Temple Corps and will be webcast here. Our photo shows Commissioners Howell being welcomed at a brunch for officers and employees at Territorial Headquarters on November 1.

The Howells are USA Southern officers who have returned to their home territory after serving since September 2014 as chief secretary and territorial women's ministries secretary in the New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga Territory. Their officer careers have included leadership of the Kentucky-Tennessee and North and South Carolina divisions, and principal and assistant principal of the Evangeline Booth College.

They also served as corps officers of Atlanta Temple and Atlanta Peachcrest, Augusta, and Savannah, (all in Georgia,) Divisional Youth Secretaries in Florida, and General Secretary and Assistant Divisional Women's Ministries Secretary in Texas. The Howells were commissioned with the Guardians of the Truth in 1985.
