"Whole World Mobilizing" is on a roll. It's heading out across the Southern Territory as members of the men's motorcycle ministry carry the General's message – symbolized by The Salvation Army flag – to their respective divisions over the next eight months.

Motorcyclists will carry the flag from event to event, concluding with an open-air celebration or other meeting and symbolically passing the flag to the next division. The ride started in February with the Florida Division and will end in September with the Georgia Division and Evangeline Booth College.

"The purpose is to really get our men out into the community, showing off Christ – in this instance, the motorcycle ministry carrying the flag," said Major Rick Raymer, territorial secretary of Men's Ministries. "It's the general's call to mobilize the whole world, and this is part of it."

In October, a special flag from International Headquarters, with the words "Southern Territory" and "Whole World Mobilizing" imprinted on it, will be presented to Commissioner Don Bell, territorial commander, in recognition of the riders, with the miles logged in each division noted.

All men and women who are motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to participate, riding to destinations chosen by a division or command. Each division also is asked to join with their adult rehabilitation centers to add support.

"How you plan your motorcycle run is totally up to your division/command," Major Raymer said in a memo sent to the divisions. "We just ask that you let us know, at the end of your run, how many miles the flag was carried."

Suggested events range from outdoor movie nights, concerts in the park and Friday night canteen runs to a particular neighborhood, to neighborhood prayer walks, a Salvation Army night at a sporting event and even an "Old Time Tent Revival Meeting."

"Ask someone to donate a large tent … or rent one and present the gospel. Let God the Holy Spirit take care of the rest. Don't forget to bring your flags!"
