Through a variety of feeding programs, The Salvation Army of Central Maryland is committed to expanding food availability to families struggling with food insecurity.
One of these programs is Pantry on the Go, a food distribution event hosted at various sites to provide immediate supplementary food assistance throughout the community once a month.
The Army in Maryland recently expanded the program to the Glen Burnie Family Service Center. The pantry also visits service centers in Middle River, West Baltimore (Temple Corps), Carroll County and Howard County.
In partnership with the local food bank, this feeding program provides an average of 6,000 pounds of fresh produce and non-perishables per visit, feeding about 200 families.
"The Salvation Army has been a great partner to us over the years," said Katie Beltz, director of government programs for the Maryland Food Bank. "They have the infrastructure and relationships to help us distribute nutritious food to hungry Marylanders quickly and efficiently."
