The new Perot Residence Hall was dedicated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the Evangeline Booth College Sept. 10, during the public welcome weekend of the Messengers of the Gospel. The building was named for Ross and Margot Perot, lifelong donors and fund-raisers, who provided the majority of the funding for the building, which will be used for cadet family housing.

Margot Perot, along with her daughter, attended the ceremony and spoke on behalf of her family.

"I am here today because my family is devoted to The Salvation Army," she said. "You exemplify everything that is good in the world and it is such an honor for my family's name to be on this building."

Major Dean Hinson, principal of the EBC, spoke as well, thanking supporters.

"We prayed that this building would be supported financially by people who love The Salvation Army," he said. "We have been blessed by both."

Construction began last fall and is scheduled to be completed by October, allowing cadet families to move into their new apartments after returning from Christmas break.
