Promoted to Glory: Captain Michael Missey

Michael Scott Missey, 52, of Hot Springs, NC, formerly of Washington, IL passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021. On Dec. 22, 1968, Michael was born in Peoria, Illinois to Marvin and Loretta Lou (Gazelle) Missey.

He was predeceased by his father Marvin Missey. He is survived by his mother Loretta Lou Lawson (Gazelle) of Washington, IL; his brothers, Steven Missey of Gainesville, FL and Danny Missey (Cheryl) of Bronson, FL; his aunt Louetta Sue Gazelle of Washington; and his cousins, Jeremy Evans of Washington and Tina Knott of Washington.

Michael was a minister and a Corps Officer of The Salvation Army in Sleepy Valley, N.C. He graduated from Washington High School and studied Seminary and Christian Education at The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth College. He also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1993.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021 at The Salvation Army’s Camp Walter Johnson in Denton, N.C.
