The Salvation Army Chattanooga Citadel hosted a successful “Trunk or Treat” event
The Salvation Army Chattanooga Citadel hosted a successful “Trunk or Treat” event on October 29, 2024, drawing over 200 people from the local community. Families gathered in the Citadel’s large parking lot at 1019 N. Moore Road to enjoy an evening filled with fun, food, and festive spirit. Children dressed in colorful costumes made their way from station to station, collecting candy and playing games at each stop.
Fourteen themed stations, set up by a dedicated team of officers, staff, and volunteers, added variety and excitement to the event. Each station offered unique games and treats, creating a memorable experience for the children. This initiative provided an excellent opportunity for The Salvation Army to connect with the community, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to creating safe and welcoming spaces for families to enjoy.
In addition to the activities, hot dogs and drinks were available to everyone in attendance, adding a warm, family-friendly touch to the evening. The refreshments helped foster a sense of community, as families gathered to relax, socialize, and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Special thanks go to Major Sarah Birks and Christian Crowson for their leadership in organizing this event, along with the dedicated members of the Citadel Corps who made it all possible. The Salvation Army is also grateful for the support from the Chattanooga Advisory Board, whose members generously donated candy for the children and even joined in the festivities, with two board members attending the event. Their contributions and presence highlighted the strong community support for The Salvation Army’s mission.
The event was not just about candy and costumes; it was a testament to the power of community engagement and fellowship, bringing people together for a night of joy and celebration.
