Tree of Gratitude
The Chattanooga Area Command is thrilled to share the much-anticipated Christmas Tree Decorating Contest for 2023. As the holiday season approached, our community participated by spreading joy and festive spirit, showcasing their creativity through beautifully adorned Christmas trees. The Chattanooga Area Command is excited to witness the creativity and enthusiasm of our community as we embark on this festive journey together. The Christmas Tree Decorating Contest promises to be a highlight of the holiday season, bringing joy and warmth to our community. Due to the impressive submissions, we have created a short Christmas devotion series to lead us through the season.
At Inman Coffee in Cleveland, TN, the team members have created a “Tree of Gratitude.” The tree is decorated with coffee paraphernalia, SA items, buffalo check ornaments, and other decorations. In addition, people can write what they are grateful for on a paper ornament and add it to the other beautiful decorations. In a grad celebration of gratitude, the team members are giving their community a chance to share their gratitude with others.
In the business of the Christmas season, mixed in with the twinkling lights and festive songs, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of activities. However, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) reminds us to "Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
As we adorn our homes with decorations and exchange gifts with loved ones, let's not forget the profound message of gratitude embedded in these verses. Christmas, at its core, is a celebration of the greatest gift humanity has ever received – the gift of God's love through the birth of Jesus Christ. It is the gift of Emmanuel - God with us.
"Always be joyful" speaks to the joy that comes from recognizing the significance of this divine gift. The birth of Jesus is a source of everlasting joy, a joy that surpasses the temporary happiness found in material celebrations.
"Never stop praying" encourages us to maintain a continuous connection with the One who bestowed upon us this indescribable gift. Through prayer, we deepen our understanding of the true meaning of Christmas and express our gratitude for the boundless love God has poured into our lives.
"Be thankful in all circumstances" takes us beyond the decorations and presents, urging us to find gratitude in every aspect of our lives. The Christmas season is a time to reflect on the blessings we often take for granted – the warmth of family, the embrace of friendships, and the simple yet profound moments of grace.
