I was fresh out of jail, and it was either be homeless again. Add to that that I was overcoming a terrible and abusive relationship.
I was lost, I was really bad, but my daughter was living back with me just ten months out of jail.
Today I got a car, my own place. I'm the assistant manager at a grocery store.
I've overcome a lot here. The Salvation Army gave me hope when there was none. I had so many people here to talk to; I had such a support system and always had my back when I felt like just giving up.
Getting a job may not look like a big deal, but it was a big deal to me. I hadn't had a tax-paying job in so long. I was finally making honest money.
