Fill Their Cups with Hope

Cup of Hope is the Salvation Army of Knoxville’s signature event to raise funds supporting our programs that serve those in need in our community, including emergency shelter, family shelters, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, respite care, domestic violence recovery, and addiction recovery.

This year’s program will focus on what becomes possible when we recognize that this work takes an entire community — public leaders, service organizations, businesses, churches, donors, volunteers, and neighbors.

Featured Speaker

Knox County Mayor Betsy Henderson

We are honored to welcome Knox County Mayor Betsy Henderson as the featured speaker for the 13th Annual Cup of Hope.

Mayor Henderson begins her administration at an important time for our growing community, as Knox County works to navigate challenges ranging from infrastructure and housing affordability to the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors. She recognizes the important role that government, businesses, faith leaders, nonprofits, treatment providers and other partners can play in addressing them. That spirit of working together makes her participation especially meaningful as we explore this year’s theme, “When a Community Comes Together.”

Sworn into office on September 1, Mayor Henderson made history as the first woman in Knox County to serve in that role. A lifelong East Tennessean and graduate of the University of Tennessee, she began her career in the office of Congressman Jimmy Duncan, serving East Tennesseans in Washington, D.C.

She was elected to the Knox County Board of Education in 2020 and served two terms on the board, including twice as its chair. During her time on the School Board, Henderson focused on strengthening schools, supporting families and addressing the needs of students across Knox County. Henderson brings her deep East Tennessee roots and experience in public service to her role as Knox County Mayor.

Legacy of Service Award

Presented to Glenn Jacobs

We are pleased to present the 2026 Legacy of Service Award to former Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs at the 13th Annual Cup of Hope Luncheon. Jacobs served as Knox County Mayor from 2018 to 2026 after a successful career as a professional athlete and local business owner. Among his most meaningful initiatives was Operation Hero’s Hill, which created 20 tiny homes and a community center for veterans experiencing homelessness. The project brought together government, schools, businesses and community partners, exemplifying both Jacobs’ commitment to service and what is possible when a community comes together.
