PIZZA X100 IN KNOXVILLE!
We received a significant expression of support recently at The Salvation Army of Knoxville. Our local PapaMurphys stores donated 100 unbaked pizzas with the hope that they could help us feed our shelter residents, as well as families who come our way to request grocery assistance. We are SO grateful for this donation.
We've had a significant increase in requests for emergency food assistance. YES, we need additional food donations. Please call ahead if you'd like to contribute. (We will be happy to meet you out front, Mon - Fri, to unload the items.)
This donation was originally initiated by Papa Murphy's vice president of marketing (out of Charlotte), Richard Averitte. His office oversees the Knoxville stores. Richard has arranged for us to receive a donation of 500 pizza vouchers and the Knoxville Area Supervisor, Matthew Hancock, arranged for the 100 pizzas to come our way.
Papa Murphy's was also an Angel Tree donor this past Christmas. When it became apparent the virus was going to create food challenges for people, they quickly asked what they could do to help The Salvation Army. The local contact (Matthew) is especially interested in helping, in light of how The Army impacted his life as a child.
