Through programs that serve the body, mind, and soul, we alleviate the symptoms of poverty, then work to address the root issues that cause it. This holistic approach helps create sustainable change in millions of lives, every single day.

Shelter

Because housing insecurity is strongly linked to prolonged poverty, The Salvation Army works to provide short and long-term housing assistance to displaced families and individuals. 

Food Assistance

Many families must decide whether they will pay their bills or purchase food. They do not have sufficient funds to do both. To help combat this impossible position, each year, The Salvation Army serves over 60 million warm, nutritious meals to those in need.

Rent & Utility Assistance

We help struggling families avoid falling into the cycle of crisis by supplementing their income with utility, rent, and other vital payments. Oftentimes, this assistance becomes the difference between shelter and eviction.

Pathway of Hope

Provides individualized services to families with children who desire to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. It seeks to address the root causes of poverty in addition to The Salvation Army’s history of compassionate serving.

Employment Assistance

As part of our comprehensive approach to helping families out of poverty, we equip moms and dads with educational resources, career coaching, and job placement opportunities. By qualifying and directing individuals to achieve stable and gainful employment, we help reduce the need for bill-pay, feeding, and shelter assistance.
