Through the Mission Essential Campaign, The Salvation Army of Chattanooga Area Command is raising $300,000 to support life-stabilizing services in Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tennessee. These funds will help provide case management, food assistance, clothing support, homeless outreach, day shelter services, cold weather shelter, and basic care for individuals and families experiencing hardship.
The Salvation Army of Chattanooga provides critical, life-stabilizing services for individuals and families experiencing hardship. Through case management, food assistance, clothing support, day shelter services, and homeless outreach, we meet people where they are and help them take steps toward stability, dignity, and hope.
Provides clothing for people who cannot afford new or thrifted items. Clients working with a case manager may access clothing monthly, or more as needed.
The client-choice food pantry respects dignity and helps ensure families receive food they will actually use. This support helps prevent gaps in nutrition for households in crisis.
Recreate Café provides a safe place to go during the day, especially during extreme weather. Guests have access to showers, laundry, water, and light snacks, helping improve individual and community health outcomes.
The Salvation Army outreach truck connects with people in encampments, providing food, water, vital supplies, and emotional and spiritual care. This outreach builds trust and connects individuals to case management.
Case managers help remove barriers to stability through assistance such as bicycles and public transportation vouchers. Transportation support helps individuals access jobs, appointments, healthcare, and housing opportunities.
The Chattanooga Area Command also includes the Cleveland, TN Corps, where Mission Essential funds will support cold weather shelter, homeless outreach, and food assistance for neighbors in need throughout the Cleveland community.
Provides warmth, safety, and basic care during dangerous winter conditions.
Helps reach individuals experiencing homelessness with essential supplies, meals, and connection to available support.
Supports hot meals and food assistance for individuals and families facing hunger.
Mission Essential gifts will be used to sustain and strengthen services in both Chattanooga and Cleveland. Every dollar helps provide practical care, compassionate support, and pathways toward stability.

Bettie found The Salvation Army during a time in her life when she needed it the most. She had fallen behind on her bills and knew her electricity would be disconnected if she did not pay. Bettie came into The Salvation Army with just the hope that her bills could be paid but left with so much more. After meeting with a case manager, she found out all the ways The Salvation Army could help her. Her bill was paid, yes, but it was much more than that. It was the chance to get ahead, to become more financially independent. It was knowing that if she needed food and clothing, she had somewhere to go. Bettie feels very blessed to have found The Salvation Army and hopes that those in need know they have a place there.
As a single father with full custody of his children, Dewayne has worked hard to provide stability after his family endured the challenges of two difficult custody battles. When he first connected with The Salvation Army, he found a place where his children felt safe, welcomed, and supported. Today, they participate in the after-school program and enjoy attending church every Sunday. The Salvation Army has helped the family secure permanent housing and provided food and other assistance whenever they needed it. Dewayne says he is incredibly grateful, adding that he doesn’t know where his family would be today without The Salvation Army’s support.
