Since 1865 The Salvation Army has had one Mission
“…to meet human needs, without discrimination,
in the name of Jesus Christ”

The Salvation Army of Hood County Service Unit was established in Granbury in 1985 to serve the residents of Hood County. We are dedicated to assisting families in need in times of crisis.

We provide four major areas of services:

Emergency Financial Assistance is provided by helping pay utility bills, rental assistance, transient lodging, eye exam and glasses, medical visits and dental care.

The Salvation Army GAP Program is a mentoring opportunity designed to care for children currently in the foster care system.  Volunteers are trained and paired with a youth and meet once a month.  Volunteers help with special interests and hobbies, goal setting and life skills to prepare for the future.

Emergency Disaster Service Volunteers are trained to respond in times of disaster both locally and beyond.  EDS teams may respond to structure fires and wildfires, lake drownings, tornados, hurricanes and floods.

Program Assistance is led by the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Hood County. Local efforts include the GISD Clothes Closets, Operation School Supplies, Bed and Pajama gifts for children at Christmas and Senior Visits.  We also sponsor school age children for Camp Hoblitzelle.

New volunteers are always welcomed!
