If you are looking for community service opportunities that will impact others and enrich your life, consider joining the Auxiliary. We welcome all guests and potential new members to any of our monthly meetings. Meet people; learn more.

Kickoff Event & Breakout Team Huddles
SAWA President, Ellen Tennison will present Living Our Mission.  SAWA Council Leaders will hold breakout sessions for members and guests to interact on topics of interest. 

 

October 11, 2023

Hidden In Plain Sight – presented by Harley Walts, Program Coordinator for Hood County Substance Abuse Council. A view into the world of teenagers hiding drug use from adults.  Learn the language, the lingo, and the places teens use to mask drug and alcohol abuse.

 

November 14, 2023

Little Van Gogh – Debbie Taylor, Author A true story of a young deer injured in an accident, nursed back to health by a sweet grandmother, and returned to its natural habitat.  This book is a great gift for children at Christmas time.

Camp Hoblitzelle – Junnie Gage & Andrea Bauer, SAWA Members, will share their experiences working with the youth, sharing the wonderful impact Camp Hoblitzelle has on the lives of the campers. Learn ways to help this project.

February 13, 2024

Dr. Scott Myers – Sculptor & Veterinarian
A world class sculptor, who makes busts for the Dallas Cowboys and the NFL Football Hall of Fame.  Dr. Myers is a 1984 graduate of Texas A&M University.  He studied sculpture in Italy and cast bronze at the prestigious Fonderia d’Arte Massimo Del Chiaro in Pietrasanta.  Dr. Myers is also a veterinarian at the Pet Hospital in Granbury.

Phone Scams - Mary Flores, Crime Victim Liaison, Hood County Sheriff’s Office and SAWA Member will present a program on phone scams.  Learn how to avoid being a victim of this type of crime, with examples of scams, how to recognize them, stop them and how to report them.
