LEARN MORE

We need volunteers in Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties!

Work beside us in times of disaster

We often feel helpless in times of disaster. At the Salvation Army, we welcome qualified volunteers and will work with you to help you get the limited training you need to act as a volunteer when times get tough. To find our more, call the N.E.W. Salvation Army at  252-446-4496 and choose option 2 to speak with our Community Development Director. Or you can simply sign up online by going to the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services page and clicking on VOLUNTEER to learn more.

Food Pantry

We need volunteers to donate items to our food pantry. We especially welcome non-perishable items such as canned and boxed food items. We also accept unopened personal hygiene supplies and cleaning products, as well as items such as diapers and pet food. Your donation can mean a great deal to neighbors in need. For more information about donating items to the food pantry, call the N.E.W. Salvation Army at  252-446-4496 and choose option 5 to speak with our local Social Services director.

Helping out at Our Family Stores

We welcome volunteers at our thrift stores. By helping out, you help us keep our prices low and increase profits that support the work of the Salvation Army in your community. You also gain connections with others in the community. For young people, volunteering at a Salvation Army Family Store is a great way to gain valuable work experience that enhances work and college resumes. For more mature adults, working at our thrift store is a great way to keep skills sharp and give back to the community.  For more information about ways you can volunteer at our local family stores, call the N.E.W. Salvation Army at  252-446-4496 and choose option 4 to speak with our local Human Resource director. For more information about our family stores in Nash, Edgecombe and Wilson counties, click here.

RINGING BELLS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

Many people in the community find ringing bells at our signature Red Kettles to be a great way to get into the spirit of Christmas while aiding a worthy cause. Many workplaces and civic organizations volunteer to ring at certain times during the season. Individuals, families --even ponies! -- love to bring a smile to the faces of Christmas shoppers while giving them a chance to participate in the true spirit of the season by giving to help neighbors in need. If you are interested in becoming a bell ringer or coordinating volunteer work for your workplace or organzation in Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties, call the N.E.W. Salvation Army at  252-446-4496 and choose option 2 to speak with our Community Development Director.
