Here, they acquire the necessary tools and attributes to be healthy, self-sufficient and productive citizens.

After School & Summer Day Camp Programs

The Salvation Army's After-school and Track-out Programs provide a safe and positive environment for children (ages 5-15) to learn more about God, meet new friends and become more self-sufficient. The many activities focus on developing a child's mind, body and spirit...but to the kids, it's all just fun and games! Some components of the After-school Program, serving both traditional and modified calendar schools, include: Bible study Tutoring through the REACH Program Learning to engage in a healthy lifestyle Recreational activities Developing hobbies and interests through photography, arts and crafts, chorus and journalism, and more.

Every program offered by the Community Center focuses on Christian principals, providing the children — and their families — an opportunity to learn more about God. Whether they are attaining positive social skills through the athletic activities, or excelling academically because of focused tutoring efforts, these kids are being changed for the Good... and so is their future.

Our center includes a game room, homework room, computer lab, gym, chapel, soccer/baseball field, classrooms for Sunday School and Bible Study, fellowship hall and other meeting areas. For complete program information, please follow the links below.

Camp Walter Johnson
Since 1974, Camp Walter Johnson has touched the lives of over 55,000 underprivileged children.
This Salvation Army Camp began with a generous land donation from a local Denton, N. C. resident,
Walter Johnson. He gifted The Salvation Army 143 acres for the campsite, as well as an additional
piece of real estate that we were able to sell for $650,000. The funds from the sale helped finance the
initial construction of the camp. Camp Walter Johnson is administered by The Salvation Army North and
South Carolina Divisional Headquarters, in Charlotte, NC.
