SALVATION ARMY

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES

 

Kitchen Donations Helper located at our Center of Hope, 1863 Capital Blvd., Raleigh  We have truck deliveries on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and need help with the heavy lifting tasks in the kitchen for an hour or two on those days. Wednesday has the most need…8:30 to 11:00 would need to be able to lift heavy loads assisting kitchen staff with putting food boxes, etc. into our refrigerator and/or freezer.

Contact the volunteer coordinator to sign up. Must be 18

Food Pantry Prep and Packing  located at our Center of Hope, 1863 Capital Blvd., Raleigh.  …Assist Crisis Case Manager Tuesdays and Thursdays picking, packing groceries and distributing groceries from the Food Pantry  (times may vary)

Coat Give Away – Wednesdays Only – January 11th, 25th February 8th and 22nd (hours – 9am to 11am)

Note:  Two volunteers needed

Soup Line: Help feed the hungry by serving, washing dishes, running trays, and water service in the soup line!

Must be at least 14 years old with adult supervision. Monday-Friday; 4:30pm-6:45 pm

Shelter Meal: As a family or group, lovingly prepare a nutritious meal for the shelter residents in the comfort of your home. Bring the meal and serve it to the women and children!  Prepared Meals can be brought in Sunday or Wednesdays (Must be brought in hot and can serve 60-70 people)

Family Thrift Store: Help turn donations into program funding! Sort and organize items in our store.\

The income generated from the Family Thrift Store helps to fund most of our programs all year long. By volunteering at the Thrift Store you would be making a lasting impact in our community.

Great Group Activity!  Store Hours Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm  Address of Thrift Store – 205 Tryon Road, Raleigh

Group Volunteers: Volunteers needed on Monday and Thursday evenings for shelter youth programs from 6:30- 8:15 pm. Programs can range from a laid back movie night/game night to more structured activities. We can also use group facilitators, if you are interested in doing any kind of activities/shows/etc.

Shelter Mentor & Tutor: Help children in the shelter with their homework, but more importantly serve as a positive role model to a child in need.

Monday & Thursday, (6:30-8:00 pm) Must be at least 18 years old

Family Fun Night: Host a fun craft or activity with the families in our Emergency Women & Children's Shelter! Dance parties, crafts, beauty nights and more! The choice is yours!

Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays: (6:30 – 8:00pm)

Clerical: Assist in completing various office tasks including: filing, data entry, thank you notes, stats, and more!

May require bringing own computer. Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm; Fridays 8am-2pm *Varies by need

Warehouse: Help organize donations that were given away to help those in need. Great Group Activity!

Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm; Fridays 9am- 1pm. Must be at least 18 years old

Athletics Programs:

Coach: Coach a team of 10-15 children in the sport of your choice towards a healthy active life with strong communications and team building skills!

Winter and summer basketball, baseball, soccer and flag football - practice & games days vary by season – 5:00-8:00 pm  weekdays and Saturday is always Game Days.   Various volunteer dates and slots available. Click here for further information

Referees - One volunteer per game on Saturdays (games are played by the various teams starting at 9am and ending at 5pm.)

Concession Stand: Enjoy watching the practices and games while providing snack and drinks for our parents and players!  2-3 Volunteers needed for concessions

Scoreboard Volunteer – Saturdays – one (1) volunteer needed per game on Saturdays to control the scoreboard

Must be at least 18 years old. Days & times vary by season.

Gym Attendant: Help the athletics director maintain the gym or field by lining fields, organization equipment and concession stand materials.
