Kitchen Donations Helper located at our Center of Hope, 1863 Capital Blvd., Raleigh  We have truck deliveries on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and need help with the heavy lifting tasks in the kitchen for an hour or two on those days. Wednesday has the most need…8:30 to 11:00 would need to be able to lift heavy loads assisting kitchen staff with putting food boxes, etc. into our refrigerator and/or freezer.

Kitchen/Food Pantry the 3rd Wednesday (8:30am) of every month we need volunteers to also help us to unload a large shipment of groceries that will need to be stocked on the shelves in our Community Kitchen as well as our Food Pantry. Contact the volunteer coordinator to sign up. Must be 18 years old.

Food Pantry Prep and Packing  located at our Center of Hope, 1863 Capital Blvd., Raleigh. Assist the Crisis Case Manager Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 to noon packing groceries for the families in need and distributing groceries from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. and help with clean up. Must be 16 years old.

Community Kitchen: Feed the hungry by helping with meal prep and serving.  Once dinner service is complete help with washing dishes, running trays, wiping down tables, sweeping, mopping floors, clearing dishes. Volunteers need to be sure to complete all tasks that staff assigns. It is required that all volunteers in the kitchen wear hairnets, aprons and refrain from using their cell phone. Must be at least 14 years old with adult supervision. Monday-Friday; 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Shelter Meals: As a family or group, lovingly prepare a nutritious meal for our shelter residents in the comfort of your home. Meals need to arrive hot around 3:30pm. Menu and date of meals (weekdays and/or weekends) need to be provided to the volunteer coordinator in advance. Meals need to serve 100-125 people.  Holiday meals are always welcome as well.

Family Thrift Store: Help turn donations into program funding. Sort, price and set up displays on our sales floor.  The income generated from the Family Thrift Store helps fund our social service programs to help those in need in our community. By volunteering at the Thrift Store, you would be making a lasting impact in our community.  Must be 18 years old or 14+ with parent/adult. This is a great group activity! Store hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Our Thrift Store is located at 205 Tryon Road, Raleigh. Please note that the Family Thrift store is closed to the public on Mondays, however volunteers are welcome.

Shelter Monitor Station Volunteer: Assist families seeking shelter due to inclement weather. The Salvation Army offers families a hot meal, shower, a place to sleep for the night and breakfast in the morning.  Volunteers help register families and get them settled in for the night with food, bedding, hygiene products and whatever else they might need for a restful night at the Center of Hope, 1863 Capital Blvd.  Volunteer hours are available Sunday through Saturdays from 4:00 p.m. throughout the night depending on volunteer’s schedule. Volunteers must be 18+ years old.

Athletics Programs:

• Coach: Coach a team of 10-15 children in the sport of your choice. Help cultivate a healthy active life and nurture strong team building skills for young people in our community. 
• Winter & Summer Basketball, Baseball, Soccer & Flag Football - Various volunteer dates and slots available.  Check link at SignUpGenius
• Referees - 1 volunteer per game
• Concession Stand, Score Board, Gate Entry (5:00 to 8:00 p.m. weeknights) Enjoy watching the practices and games while volunteering.  2-3 volunteers needed. Must be at least 16 years old.
