Salvation Army of Augusta launches holiday season fundraising campaign early
The Salvation Army launched its holiday season fundraising campaign early this year to better meet the needs of the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
On a national level, the Salvation Army is expecting up to a 50% decrease in red kettle contributions this year because of customers carrying less cash and fewer coins, more online shopping, unemployment rates and closures of retail stores. The organization is expecting a 150% increase in request for assistance nationwide during Christmas.
