DSA CLASSES & AUDITIONS

We offer various different classes at DSA. Delegates will pick one major class for the season from the options below. All delegates will be involved in a chorus class. If you don't want to audition for chorus you can choose to be automatically placed in the Singing Company. For those wanting to audition for placement in the Intermediate Chorus or Divisional Youth Chorus you can find audition material below.

Registration for the 2024-25 DSA Season closes September 4th, 2024.
Auditions will take place on September 13th.

Below you will find an overview of each class. Click on the class you are interested in to find audition information.

There are four choruses at DSA: Girls Chorus, Boys Chorus, Divisional Youth Chorus (DYC), and the Carolinas Divisional Songsters (CDS).

All delegates must audition for a chorus. You can find the audition music below. If you placed in DYC last season you automatically are in DYC this season, and do not need to audition.

If you are interested in being a part of the Divisional Songsters, please reach out to Aaron Jackson.

One of the most popular classes at DSA! In this class you will learn dance fundamentals and technique, as well as choreography and combinations you can take back to the corps.

Our dance room is small and therefore can only hold 12 delegates. If the class is full when you register, your name will be placed on the waiting list and we will reach out for your second choice for major classes.

Those wanting to audition for Lights Up can find information and the application at the end of the Dance audition material.

The Guitar Major at DSA is for all levels of guitarists. From beginners interested in learning how to play, to more advanced players wanting to increase their abilities. Students will learn chords and how to read music and play melodies. At the end of DSA, guitarist will be able to participate in a worship team and help teach at the corps.

Guitar Audition

The Percussion Class at DSA is for beginner and developing percussionists who are not ready for a band yet. In the percussion class, students work on snare fundamentals using drum line equipment.

The Piano major at DSA is for all levels of pianists, from beginners just starting to learn piano, to more advanced players wanting to increase their talents. In the piano major, you will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of piano playing from chords and melodies to hymn playing to classical piano. Piano students will each have their own keyboard to practice through the weekend. At the end of DSA, pianist will be able to participate in worship with either a solo, play in a worship team, or playing hymns at the corps

The piano class is limited to twelve instruments. Each year, we accept six beginners and six returners. Be sure to apply fast!

Piano students DO NOT need to audition for piano. However you WILL need to complete a chorus audition.

The Divisional Youth Praise Team is for young players, advanced in their craft, to grow their skills in a praise band. During this class students will increase their knowledge of praise and worship music as well as increase their ability on their instrument.  Participants in this group will gain experience in leading worship to participate and lead at their own corps. This group has the opportunity to minister to the whole division during NSC Divisional events.

Praise & Worship Audition

The Divisional Timbrel Brigade meets at DSA as a combined youth and adult ensemble. Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to join.

Our Visual Arts class looks at fusing worship and your craft together. Each month they use different mediums to create unique pieces of work. Anyone interested in participating in the Visual Arts class is encouraged to bring 1-2 pieces of original work to show their instructor. Be prepared to answer some questions about what your experience with art. Your instructor may want to know what mediums you like to use, your experience, and/or your understanding of the elements of art (color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value).
