The Salvation Army has a sacred responsibility to all parties in an incident or emergency situation: the victim, the parents, and the organization itself (including its personnel).
Each unit should have a pre-established emergency plan. Drills should be carried out regularly. The links below will take you to our suggested steps for each type of emergency.
Here are some general guidelines for responding to an emergency:
Call 9-1-1 immediately if necessary
Ensure scene is safe and any evidence is kept in tact.
Inform Corps Officer/Supervisor immediately.
Complete an online incident report form (link below).
Notify other necessary parties such as Chesterfield, Risk Management, and/or BGCA.
Keep key participants informed and provide pastoral care for all involved as needed.
Respect privacy and confidentiality.
Provide tangible assistance as appropriate.
Instruct everyone in the unit to avoid commenting to media and outside parties. Refer questions to designated spokesperson who has been appointed by The Salvation Army.
