If a fire alarm sounds it may indicate a tornado or a fire.
TORNADO:
If a tornado is coming, immediately move to the center of the lowest level of the building, away from windows, and lie flat and/or evacuate immediately to the stairwell.
Follow instructions and move quickly without questions.
FIRE:
If you discover smoke or fire, remember: R.A.C.E.
RELOCATE – If it is safe to do so, Relocate or Rescue people in immediate danger. Instruct others to report to their designated gathering areas. Be aware of persons who may need assistance.
ALARM – Pull the building fire Alarm to Alert others. Move to a safe location. Call 911 immediately, then call the corps officer or unit director, and report the precise location of the fire.
CONFINE – Close all doors, windows and other openings to Confine the fire. Shut off fuel sources such as piped gases and compressed gas cylinders as you evacuate, if this can be done safely.
EVACUATE – Evacuate building. Everybody should meet at the predetermined staging area location. (This should be part of your emergency plan.) Wherever possible, everyone should be in groups.
TSA personnel should be informed of the best, safest, and quickest route to take to exit the building. In the event of a fire (or during a drill), the two adults with each class/group should walk their class/group to the area in a single file line with one adult leading and the other adult in the back of the line. Parents should be contacted as soon as possible, and arrangements should be made for a pick-up process for all youth.
If persons must escape through smoke from the fire, they should get as low to the ground as possible and cover their mouth and nose with fabric to help prevent smoke inhalation.
In the event a person is on fire, they should immediately STOP – DROP – and ROLL.

Once the emergency has ended, and when it is safe to do so, please complete an Online Incident Report Form to document the incident.
