About the Angel Tree Program

The Salvation Army of Waco/McLennan County is continuing the tradition of Angel Trees in Waco! The Angel Tree program has been running in the United States for over 45 years to help provide Christmas gifts from generous donors for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year.

"At Christmas, when the world is wrapped in the warmth of festive cheer, there is a special call to remember the children who may not have the luxury of a joyful holiday season," says Captain Tammie Miracle, the commanding officer in Waco, “We consider this a crucial initiative aimed at ensuring children in need get a chance to enjoy the holidays and have a present to open on Christmas morning and are thrilled to be able to host the Angel Tree program in Waco.”

The Salvation Army ensures that hundreds of children will experience the joy of Christmas morning this year. The Angel Tree program serves as a symbol of hope, particularly at a time when many are continuing to struggle with the impacts of inflation and rising costs. Across the region, thousands are faced with tough choices on how to stretch their already tight household budgets, leaving many torn between purchasing presents for the holidays or putting food on the table.

The Salvation Angel Tree program helps alleviate that added financial and emotional stress.

Angel Tree Appointment letters are now available

Families who are experiencing a financial burden and want to apply for Christmas assistance must come by The Salvation Army office at 4721 W. Waco Drive from September 16- October 7 Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM to pick up an appointment letter.

The appointment letter will give each family the date and time of their appointment as well as the documentation needed for their Angel Tree interview.

Once a child has been registered and accepted as an Angel their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in your community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys. Gifts are distributed to the family to place under their family tree, making Christmas brighter for all those in need.
