The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.
Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Salvation Army of Waco, TX exists to support the mission of The Salvation Army and all of its existing projects in our community. The Women’s Auxiliary of Waco, TX organizes and executes special fundraising activities for The Salvation Army Women’s Shelter (Sally’s House) to cover unexpected expenses and special needs. In addition to Sally’s House, the Auxiliary provides volunteers for the Salvation Army of Waco, TX’s existing projects and special community events, as requested.
I have admired the Salvation Army since my childhood because of my father’s experience in the Korean War. The Salvation Army was always there for American GIs, he often repeated, offering coffee and compassion to homesick and weary soldiers. My Sunday School teachers and parents also taught me that Jesus commands Christians to be His hands and feet, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and sharing God’s love with the hopeless. So when I was first asked to join the Women’s Auxiliary, my immediate answer was YES, what can I do to help this wonderful worldwide organization.
The answer I discovered included all the following—and more:
So now, I invite you—women of the Waco area—to join the Women’s Auxiliary, helping our group of compassionate women as we obey Jesus’s greatest commandment: to love God and love our neighbor.
