Veteran Services

The Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend is honored to serve Veterans and their families through The Texas Veterans Commission Grant.

The TVC grant allows us to serve our Veterans and their families through a variety of programs. We are able to provide short-term rent and utility assistance, access to our rapid rehousing program, and payment for past-due rent and/or utility payments. Surviving spouses also qualify for this assistance and are encouraged to apply to receive these services.

In-order to make this assistance easily accessible, we have made our application process very simple. Any Veteran, Veteran dependent, or surviving spouse can make an appointment by calling 361-884-9497 or through a walk-in at our building located at 1804 Buford St.

Upon completion and approval of the application, each client will be assigned a case worker who will perform monthly case management and ensure they are receiving the correct services and resources for their situation.

In addition to these programs, we also have transitional housing available for any Veteran experiencing homelessness. This program will give the client access to a case worker who will assist them in finding a job, securing housing, creating a budget, obtaining education, and more.

This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. For more information, visit www.TVC.Texas.gov
