VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for The Salvation Army! The Salvation Army in Corpus Christi offers many opportunities where you can share your time and get involved. Our dedicated team of volunteers play a key role in The Salvation Army’s goal to provide support and the very best social services, to give aid wherever and whenever needed. You must have an interest in giving back to the community and be willing and able to work as part of a great team of other volunteers and staff members. Your time and commitment are essential to the success of our organization.

You must be 18 years or older to volunteer.

Ongoing Individual & Group Opportunities

THE SALVATION ARMY FOOD PANTRY

1804 Buford Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78404
Food packing volunteer: Every month volunteers are needed to help pack food bags for individuals in need of groceries. With your help, more than 200 individuals will receive food assistance every month in the Coastal Bend community. Food packing takes place every month from 9-11 am at the Food Pantry. Please email Monica.Barrera@uss.salvationarmy.org for information on the next food packing date.

THE SALVATION ARMY FAMILY STORE

5042 South Padre Island Drive
Volunteers are needed to sort through donations and organize clothing and other items throughout the store. The family store operates to support local year-round Salvation Army programs. Every purchase goes back into these programs, which are designed to help men, women, children and veterans avoid homelessness and instead find permanent homes.

Monday 10 am – 3 pm
Tuesday-Friday 10 am – 7 pm
Saturday 10 am – 5 pm
Sunday Closed

Share you time serving hot meals to families, children and Veterans who reside at The Salvation Army shelter. You may volunteer anytime between 10:30am to 2:00pm.

FAMILY EMERGENCY SHELTER

Our Social Services Department offers volunteer opportunities for students or anyone who wants to know more about The Salvation Army shelter. Opportunities include tutoring individual children or assisting case workers.

Holiday Volunteer Opportunities

RED KETTLE CAMPAIGN

Become a bell ringer and help support The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. One hundred percent of all donations are used to support year-round Salvation Army programs that help children, families, veterans, and seniors in need in Corpus Christi. In fact, all funds are used locally. Ring bells at a kettle with your family, co-workers, church group, or individually.

ANGEL TREE PROGRAM

Each year The Salvation Army provides gifts through our Angel Tree Program to hundreds of children whose families are in need of assistance and unable to shop for Christmas presents. Volunteers are needed to help sort gifts and prepare them for distribution to families. Please call 361-356-3624 to get more information on how to volunteer, sponsor Angels or provide gifts for families in need.

THANKSGIVING MEAL AT THE SALVATION ARMY

Every year, The Salvation Army hosts a Thanksgiving meal to individuals who reside at the shelter, and also to any individual or family in the community. Share your time serving a warm Thanksgiving meal! Please call 361-356-3624 for volunteer sign up times.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

FANS FOR FRIENDS (SUMMER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IN JUNE

Every summer, The Salvation Army collects donated fans to help individuals in need during the hot summer days. Our goal is to assist families and elderly individuals who do not have air conditioning in their homes. Volunteer to help us collect and distribute the fans.

SURVIVE THE NIGHT — MOBILE CANTEEN/KITCHEN

Sign up your group to take our out mobile kitchen to serve food and water to the community. Groups are required to provide food. The Salvation Army can provide water upon request and availability. Groups are welcome to take canteen 1-3 times a month, based on availability. A route will be provided. Please call 361-356-3624 for application details and program guidelines.
